Equilateral Prisms
Equilateral prisms are often referred to as dispersing prisms due to their function of dispersing the light into its different colors. There fore they are often used in applications using wavelength separation.
These Equilateral Prisms enable a light incident at an oblique angle to the first face to disperse according to its wavelength and then emerge as a spectrum from the opposite face of the Prism.
These prisms create less stray light than typical diffraction gratings. This feature helps them over come difficulties of higher order typically related to working with gratings. They create a minimum deviation due to the ray and wavelength angle of incidence at the entrance surface that is equal to the angle of emergence.
SK-Advanced Equilateral Prisms are offered from N-SF11 or F2 flint glass offering excellent performance in the visible and NIR spectral range, featuring three sides of equal lengths connected by 60° angles. They can be ordered uncoated or with a custom coating design.
